Mesothelioma is a form of cancer caused by a silicate mineral with long, thin fibrous crystals called asbestos.

It develops in the lining that covers most of the internal organs called mesothelium where the pleura, the lining of the lungs and chest wall, the heart, the pericardium, peritoneum or tunica vaginalis.

Symptoms of Mesothelioma

Abdominal swelling, weight loss, bowel obstruction, anemia, blood clotting abnormalities, fever, trouble swallowing, or swelling of the neck or face.

In a more advanced stage this sort of cancer may also spread to other parts of the body.

In some cases the lungs may collapse due to tumor masses in the organs.

Mesothelioma does not usually spread to theadrenal glands, bone or brain.
